So You're In the Club Too?
The life of a grunt. We loved it. We hated it. We're proud of our service and most definitely proud of our time in the world's most feared fighting force, the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry. We forged bonds with one another that can't be made anywhere else; from the sands of 29 Palms to the beaches of Camp Lejune to Hawaii, California and Okinawa, we had each other's backs in bars and clubs wearing our "Death Before Dishonor" tattoos, high and tights, and sweet bomber jackets complete with moto patches.
We covered our brothers' six again when we deployed to fight America's wars from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan. We stopped the bleeding with our own hands, carried one another when needed, and never left each other behind. We fought and some died for each other. And we would do it all again.
So our Club 03 Series honors the various contributions each of us "in the club" made to upholding our reputation as ferocious Devil Dogs.
The LAV crewman provided driving and 1st echelon maintenance skills for all mission role vehicles organic to the LAR battalion. The LAV crewman also provided gunnery and weapons skills for the employment of the 25mm chain gun, the coaxial and pintle-mounted 7.62mm machineguns and thermal optics on the LAV-25 variant. These guys are also quite knowledgeable in security and reconnaissance missions in support of the MAGTF used for insertions and extraction of other forward elements.
