AND WE'RE STILL HEADING UP!
September 11, 2001, changed the face of the planet greater than any single event since World War 2. If you can remember that day, you'll forever remember the image of those smoking towers in New York City before they crumbled to rubble.
Before the collapse, first responders from all over the City were attempting to rescue those Americans and others trapped in those doomed buildings. The brave souls of New York Fire Department Ladder 343 were a team of those brave souls. Their heroism, bravery, and selflessness in defiance of an order to retreat from the Twin Towers, cost them their lives as they selflessly attempted to retrieve trapped victims in the towers.
These men are legends who left this world too early, and men who should be honored and remembered by generations to come!
We salute these American Heroes and honor their memory and hope to preserve their legacy through our latest t-shirt!
Here are the final words of a celebrated officer on Ladder 343 when he communicated the intentions of these heroic first responders.
Fire Captain (FDNY 3 Truck/Ladder 3):
“I’m on the 35th floor, okay, okay?
Just relay to the command post we’re trying to get up.
There’s numerous civilians at all stairwells, numerous burn injuries are coming down.
I’m trying to send them down first.
Apparently, it’s above the 75th floor.
I don’t know if they got there yet. Okay.
Three Truck and we are still heading up.
Okay? Thank you.”
Command Post to Ladder 3:
“Command Post to Ladder 3, get out of the building!”
“This is the officer of Ladder Co. 3. I refuse the order!
I am on the 44th floor and we have too many burned people with me.
I'm not leaving them!”
To the brave crew of 3 Truck!
